I want you to edit my manuscript. What should I do now?
Send me an email describing the service you are interested in, genre and current word count. It's fine if you're unsure of which service you need, we can work that out together.
I will reply to either request additional details or to propose terms, i.e. details of the service, pricing, payment terms (if you want to pay in installments, please let me know at this point), and the proposed schedule.
If we agree on the terms, I’ll send a contract outlining everything discussed, followed by an invoice for the service(s) you’ve selected. If the service has a retaining fee, this will need to be paid before I start working on your manuscript.
If your desired start date is more than four weeks away, a deposit of 10% will reserve your spot.
On the confirmed start date, and after the retainer fee has been cleared, you’ll email me your manuscript as a Word document (Times New Roman, 12pt, 1.5 line spacing, standard margins). I may need to check in once or twice, especially during editing, so please make sure you remain available to answer any questions that may arise.
When the edit is complete I will email you on, or before the agreed upon return date. After you submit the final payment, I’ll return your manuscript along with the editorial letter or commentary, depending on the service.
If your package includes a post‑edit call, you may schedule it within two weeks of receiving your edited manuscript.
Any comments or issues regarding my service need to be addressed withing two weeks (14 days) of completion of service. I do not offer refunds, so please get in touch to discuss any concerns within that timeframe.
What are your payment terms?
All payments are due between the agreed upon start date and the date the manuscript is returned.
Some services have a retaining fee which will need to be paid before I start editing your manuscript. This is non-refundable as soon as I start.
If your desired start date is more than four weeks away, a deposit of 10% will reserve your spot. This is refundable if you change your mind before I start working on your text.
I am happy to set up an installment plan if requested.
Can I get a discount?
If you want me to assess the same manuscript after you've made changes, you will receive a 50% discount on the same service, or 15% off any other service.
Why are there no prices on the website?
Every book is unique, and so is the work it requires. Instead of offering one‑size‑fits‑all pricing, I assess your manuscript and then provide a customized quote based on what will best support your goals. This ensures you only pay for the services you truly need.
What about confidentiality?
All materials you provide are kept fully confidential and used only for the editorial services we agree upon. I do not share your manuscript or personal information with any third party, and everything will be deleted within two weeks (14 days) of completion of service.
